A Mother’s Tears Come to a Halt… and Doses of Hope Bring Her Back to Life Through Beit Al Khair

The recent days have been far from easy for a sick mother worn down by gland cancer, as harsh living conditions placed a heavy burden on her family, leaving her unable to continue her treatment after all avenues were exhausted.
The chemotherapy sessions she used to receive every 21 days came to a halt due to their prohibitively high cost.

The patient, identified as (R.M.), lives with her family in the UAE on a limited income. The family is supported by the father, who works for a private transport company with a monthly salary not exceeding AED 4,000, struggling to provide for a household of five—four school-aged children and a housewife mother. Between rent, daily living expenses, and school fees, he found himself unable to cover the cost of treatment that had become a matter of life and death.

After three months without receiving the necessary chemotherapy at Tawam Hospital, the mother’s health deteriorated, and anxiety deepened within the family. Carrying the weight of illness, responsibility, and hope for survival, the father turned to Beit Al Khair Society for assistance.

True to its humanitarian mission, Beit Al Khair promptly reviewed and followed up on the case, approving coverage of the chemotherapy costs totaling AED 150,000—restoring the patient’s access to treatment and bringing long-absent reassurance back to her family.

Through this intervention, the Society did more than settle medical bills; it rekindled hope in the heart of a mother exhausted by illness and lifted a heavy burden from a struggling family, reaffirming that a helping hand is always extended to those who have run out of options—and that generosity, when paired with compassion, creates a real and lasting difference in the lives of those in need.
